JACDB: An Archive of the Visual and Performing Arts of Japan

The Japanese Arts and Culture Data Base (JACDB) is an on-line archive of various aspects of traditional Japanese culture. While other arts may eventually be included, our initial focus is on the performing arts, the visual art of the Japanese woodblock print, and architecture.

Much of what is found on this site comes from the materials collected over a more than thirty-year period by Prof. William Lee of the Asian Studies Centre at the University of Manitoba.

The curators would like to acknowledge the support of the Faculty of Arts Endowment Fund in the creation of the archive.
